Here is the official release:
CEDAR PARK, TX – The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that defenseman Ryan Button has been reassigned to the Idaho Steelheads, the club’s ECHL affiliate.
Button, 22, has played in 26 games this season for Texas, scoring three goals and recording 32 penalty minutes. The Edmonton, Alberta native, who is normally a defenseman, had been converted to forward recently, skating as a left wing for the Stars. Button has also played in 13 ECHL games for Idaho this season and has 11 points (3 goals, 8 assists), a +1 rating and nine penalty minutes. Originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the third round (86th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Button was acquired by Dallas on July 4, 2013 in a seven-player trade with Boston, along with Tyler Seguin and Rich Peverley in exchange for Loui Eriksson, Matt Fraser, Joe Morrow and Reilly Smith.
