Gaunce suspended for one game, Sinkewich moved in ECHL

Two small bits of news for the Texas Stars on the blue line today.

Cameron Gaunce will be suspended one game and will miss Tuesday’s game against the Lake Erie Monsters. Gaunce was given a match penalty in Saturday’s game against the Charlotte Checkers for a slew-foot.

With Gaunce’s suspension, either William Wrenn or Hubert Labrie will return to the lineup tomorrow morning (it’s a school-day game). I would expect Gaunce to be back in the lineup Wednesday night.

In the ECHL the Stars assigned Russ Sinkewich to the Idaho Steelheads. He had been with the Toledo Walleye, but his ECHL rights were traded on Monday to Idaho.

For Sinkewich, the switch in ECHL teams means he’ll be in the playoffs this season. Toledo is likely going to miss the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, while Idaho is guaranteed a playoff berth with all eight Western Conference teams making the postseason this year.
