Chris Mueller signs with the New York Rangers

Chris Mueller will not be back with the Texas Stars next season. The center signed with the New York Rangers Tuesday on the first day of NHL fee agency.

Mueller was a key part of the Texas Stars top ranked power play and had a team-high 15 goals. In the Calder Cup playoffs he scored in each round and centered a a line with Dustin Jeffrey and Scott Glennie.

With Dallas’ trade for Jason Spezza earlier today Mueller likely was pushed down the Stars depth chart. In New York he’ll be closer to home as well — he’s a native of West Seneca, NY.
