The Texas Stars have signed defenseman Scott Valentine to a standard AHL contract.
Valentine was playing with Texas’ ECHL-affiliate the Idaho Steelheads to start the year, but has 191 games of AHL experience.
Valentine played at least 62 games with the Milwaukee Admirals each of the past three seasons, including a career-high 65 last season.
At 6-foot-2 and 196 pounds, Valentine is a more defensive-minded player and his 33 career points (10 goals, 23 assists) reflect that.
Texas was looking for defensive depth and needed a seventh body on the blue line before Friday’s game against the San Antonio Rampage.
Valentine is expected to join the team in time for practice tomorrow.
