AHL to make “major announcement” in San Jose on Thursday

Mark Jan. 29, 2015 as the birth of the AHL Pacific Division.

The league announced that officials from the Sharks, Ducks, Flames, Oiler, and Kings will be at a press conference Thursday and the league will make a “major announcement related to the 2015-16 season.”

Western movement has been rumored for a couple years now, it appears that all the moving pieces are now in order.

The league issued the following press release today:

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League will be making a major announcement related to the 2015-16 season on Thursday, January 29, at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif.

Bob Murray, Executive Vice President and General Manager – Anaheim Ducks

Media wishing to attend the event should contact San Jose Sharks director of media relations Scott Emmert (semmert@sharkssports.net) for credentials. Lunch will be served following the press conference.

The press conference will be streamed live on theahl.com as well as on the websites of the participating teams.
