Patrik Nemeth is set to make his return to the AHL this weekend. It will be his first shift with the Texas Stars since he scored the game-winning overtime goal in the 2014 Calder Cup Finals.
Nemeth is scheduled to join Texas on Friday before the game against the Rochester Americans, as first reported by Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News.
Texas also plays on the road Saturday against the Toronto Marlies and Tuesday against the Oklahoma City Barons. If those three games go well, Nemeth’s AHL conditioning stint could be over and he could be back in the NHL before Texas returns home from a two-week road trip on Feb. 27.
Nemeth hasn’t played since Oct. 18 and was diagnosed at the time with a “possibly season-ending” injury after getting cut by R.J. Umberger’s skate. Instead the 23-year-old Swede is set to play in the AHL a little over four months since the freak injury.
