Curtis McKenzie and Brett Ritchie “papered” to Texas Stars, now eligible for AHL playoffs

The Dallas Stars assigned forwards Curtis McKenzie and Brett Ritchie to the Texas Stars before the NHL trade deadline Monday, making them eligible for the AHL playoffs.

Both players are going to be recalled this afternoon, using up two of Dallas’ four non-emergency recalls for the remainder of the NHL season.

Jyrki Jokipakka — who could have been sent down — was not on the AHL roster at 2 p.m. central, making him in ineligible for the AHL playoffs.

Dallas will likely use the third non-emergency recall on Patrik Nemeth once it’s deemed he’s NHL ready, possibly this week.

The team could also use the fourth non-emergency recall on Jamie Oleksiak at some point.
