CEDAR PARK — For the second time, the Cedar Park Center is serving as a launching pad for Jamie Benn’s career.
Five years ago Benn was sent down to the Texas Stars for the 2010 Calder Cup playoffs at the end of his rookie season. Benn scored 14 goals and had 12 assists in 24 playoffs games as Texas fell to the Hershey Bears in the Calder Cup finals.
Benn turned that experience into a 56-point season during the 2010-11 season. From there, he got progressively better as he was named the Dallas Stars captain before the 2013-14 season, and claimed the Art Ross Trophy as NHL’s leading scorer last season.
