CEDAR PARK — Jack Campbell will start the Dallas Stars first pre-season game tonight against the Florida Panthers.
Campbell said he’s made some changes approaching this season and he’s a “much calmer guy,” in the net.
“Now I realize to be one of the best goalies in the game you got to really have that personality of being a calmer guy,” Campbell said. “So I put a lot of work into that this summer, and I feel like that comes with age too.”
Philippe Desrosiers will also dress tonight. It hasn’t been revealed whether Campbell will play the whole game or not.
Likely Texas Stars Brendan Ranford, Radek Faksa, Remi Elie, Jason Dickinson, Devin Shore, Gemel Smith, Julius Honka, and Esa Lindell are all in the lineup for Dallas. Mattias Janmark, who is expected to play in Sweden this season, will also play for the Stars.
“A lot of young guys are getting an opportunity,” Stars coach Lindy Ruff said. “So, I’m mainly looking at our young guys and looking at what they’re going to do in a game. See where there at against a Florida team that will have their share of young guys.”
Dallas will have NHL experience on the blue line as Jyrki Jokipakka, John Klingberg, Jason Demers, and Jamie Oleksiak are all in the lineup.
Tuesday’s game will be one of the three that Dallas will play in pre-season with guaranteed 3-on-3 overtime, no matter what the score is after regulation.
Dallas is prepared for that scenario and spent part of Tuesday’s morning skate working on the discipline.
